Gerard wins handful of medals at World Martial Arts Games

Earlier this year ASAMS sponsored local teenager, Gerard Knight to pursue his dreams of representing Great Britain at the World Martial Arts Games on Daytona Beach, Florida at the end of July.

Following the two day event black belt, Gerard Knight came away with a handful of medals and a world champion title. Gerards medals include bronze for team fighting, two silver medals for kickboxing and a gold medal in the one-on-one Kimute karate tournament.

Gerard is now focusing on forthcoming events in October and August 2024 and ultimately aspires to make it onto Team GB for the Olympic Games. Gerard took up karate at the age of 4 in a bid to fend off bullies and has just completed his GCSE’s.

Gerard is continuing to raise funds to enable him to compete and his go fund me page can be reached at: www.gofundme.com/7rqry-my-olympic-dream or visit Gerard Knight M.O.D (my Olympic dream) on Facebook. Gerard would be so grateful for any help possible in achieving his goals and any donations are highly appreciated. The team at ASAMS continue to wish him well and are following his progress.
