Achievement of partially flexible scope

ASAMS are pleased to announce that we have been granted an extension to scope to a partially flexible scope. This will enable ASAMS to better serve our clients in two ways.

  1. We can work to the latest version of standards sooner in response to client requirements.
  2. We can now test under our UKAS accreditation to methods which we do not hold UKAS accreditation to, as long as the testing does not introduce new principles of measurement or measurements outside the parametric boundaries defined within the standard specifications already accredited.

Practically for our clients this means responding to their needs better and faster. In addition, testing that is very similar to existing tests we undertake may be able to be tested under our UKAS scope of accreditation, dependent on a review of the requirements.

Andrew Page, ASAMS Executive Director, said “This is a step forward for ASAMS being able to better meet our client’s needs.”
